Well sure. I wouldn't just pick it up in my 50's. I've been doing it since I was in my teens and I'm still fine in to my 40's. Would not recommend getting in to testosterone fueled "as good as I once was" sparring with teens/20's as that's where injuries happen.

Is it really that risky with protective gear though?

All I know is a former boss of mine fell off his riding lawnmower. Got up, dusted himself off and kept going. Two days later he was getting a hole drilled in his skull to relieve the pressure on his brain.

What about just training for the physical fitness aspect of it?

I'm gonna break his old arse jaw.

He'll lose weight when he has 3 meals a day through a straw for the next 6 months.

My dad did Krav Maga in his mid to late 50s. Got hurt and had to quit. He's been working out since he was 20 though

You talking about boxing with headgear or hitting the heavy bag/speed bag?

The heavy bag is EXCELLENT exercise. It's the best stress reliever out there and you get great results in a short period of time. I much prefer doing an intense 20-30 minute workout on the bag than running for over an hour.

I always recommend boxing when people talk about working out/exercising. Just get you some hand wraps so you don't hurt your hands.

I don't think it's ever to old to box for exercise

I wouldn't spar if I was 50+ tho

I box 2-3 times per week, used to be more but the gym down here closed down a few years ago
