That's great. I'm at 275 after changing to a wider grip. I was up to 295 with a standard grip. Pushing for 315.

Just work on strengthening your pecs and you'll be there. Your tri's are less involved with the wider grip and the pectoral muscle is more involved. Once you get those up to par you will be able to take advantage of the shorter bar path.

Arguably, never. Just test your 3rm or 5rm.

Prerequisites for testing 1rm:

1.) Do you know how to bail?
2.) Do you have a safety rack?
3.) people to help?

Back in my meat head days, I maxed every other week.

doesn't a meathead just train for aesthetics and work in the 8-12 rep per set range?

BTW, I got 315 7x on Bench last night

solid work. Old 300lb pre-torn bicep me could do it 12x. New 220lb me did it 6x on Monday. But I 225x3 on standing overhead press today, which was cool.

Old rugby me could get it 3 times.

New Wendler/keto me can't get it once.
But I feel the power coming back.

Got 315 for 4 tonight after 15/12/10/8/6. I'm enjoying being back in the gym. Thinking of switching to 4:45am workouts. It's too packed at the moment after work.

My bench dropped pretty bad when trying 5/3/1. I stick to rotating pyramids, 8x3 and 6x2 speed sets (1 min rest between), and working up to a max double for my to finish the cycle. I did 440x3 at the end of my workout Monday so I am going to stick with what is working for now.

I'm always weak on bench. I think 5-3-1 is actually gonna help me.

I've never cared about bench. I'd rather a big OHP like Bus.
But to do the thing right, I'm gonna stick to it and see what happens.

It works for a lot of people so keep going with it and see what happens. I will say it did help keep me from over training my squats and deads. I still use a loose version of it for deads. I love OHP also, especially since it correlates with my bench. The problem is my shoulder starts killing me once I get up over 285 for a couple of weeks

Damn son
Are your dead and squat numbers as impressive?

I'm gonna stick it out. Got one month under my belt after Saturday when I deadlift.

I know what you're saying about the overtraining part.

I don't feel completely crippled the next day on either of those lifts. I'm sore, hurtin a little, but not blasted to where life sucks.

I think that helps with building strength. I'm not doing this for size and shite.

I don't know if I would use the word impressive as I believe you should remain humble or get humbled lol(there is always some one bigger and badder than you somewhere). I have had the privilege of being trained by, trained with, and lifted with some of the best lifters in the world affording me access to a wealth of training knowledge. God knows what kind of bro shite i would be doing if I hadn't lol. I have done a 700 squat and 720 deadlift with just a belt, but injuries always seem to pop up right when I get through a couple of training cycles. I still get the itch to start seriously training from time to time lol.
