Every day. Some days for only 20-30 mins. Most days for at least an hour, often longer.

Every day of my life since I first experienced the pleasures of reading as a child. I genuinely don't understand how one can have informed opinions, or accumulate knowledge on varied topics, or explore the mysteries of the world, or understand history, or appreciate science, or experience emotions outside the localized confines of daily life, without reading. For me, reading is the predicate for a wise and rich life.

A good bit, but it’s partially work related.

Nope…I never have been much on reading. A couple of years ago, I had a stroke and now can’t read worth shite. Outside of what I have to read for work, I read almost nothing that is more than a few sentences.

Bible. Every morning.
A novel or non-fiction, 5 nights a week on average.

Every day. I have basically replaced the TV with books and podcasts with audiobooks.

Typically only when on vacation but I’ve trying to do more, partly to do with my problems falling asleep. It’s been helping.
Also been doing audiobooks while on my daily walks. That’s been a much better use of that time than just listening to music.
Some times I get so engrossed that after I get home I realize I basically have no recollection of any details from the walk itself. Lol

I don’t actually know if I know how to read or I’ve just memorized a bunch of words

I hate fiction 99% of the time. It doesn't matter if it is in the form of a book, a TV show, a movie, or whatever. If it is fictional and has made up characters with a made up story, I have a really hard time committing myself to it. I just.. don't care what happens in make believe? I don't know. Always been that way.
I purchase books all the time, but they are informational/instructional books for the most part. A lot of the time, they're cookbooks or food science/technique books since it is my hobby. I love to read them, but it is much different from sitting down with a novel.
I read a ton of things online that are beyond shitposting here, though. I end up deep in rabbit holes on the strangest topics, and honestly I think that is just as legit as other types of reading. Opting to spend my evenings learning random stuff via the internet (instead of watching TV - I don't even turn it on) has given me all kinds of weird nuggets of "did you know?" that I share with people in conversation. Also helps me on trivia night with the really random questions that aren't movie/tv related.

Books are endless...
What are you reading and for what gain?
Just curious...

What subjects are you listening to?

Your whole post sounds exactly like me. Only recently have I gotten back into reading a wider variety of books, after so many years of educational/instructional/historical/nonfiction books. I have found that I really enjoy historical fiction, because the stories are rooted in reality and teach me history. If you randomly decide one day to give a fiction story a shot, I would highly recommend A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. It really sucked me in and got me very interested in Russian history. I also just challenged myself to read some classics to better educate myself, so I’m starting with Dostoevsky and Tolstoy and moving on from there. I hope you give A Gentleman in Moscow a try and would love to hear what you think

I was reading a ton in college due to classes i was in. Took a few years off and maybe read a book or two a year - then covid hit and I started reading a lot more paperbacks. One good thing that came out or covid for me.
