If you are so broke...why are you spending 3k on an engagement ring?

Why do I smell an impending title switcheroo?

Seems impossible to overdraft these days with online banking. You can check your balance on your smartphone.

Never and I've had a checking account since I was 14.

My wife and I both scheduled house payments online without knowing the other did it already. That was the only time it's happened to us.

If you overdraft as much as you say you do, have credit card debt, and you're having car trouble, you have financial issues.
You're giving away money by over drafting.

I overdraft all the time. I have unlimited over draft forgiveness, so it isn't a problem.
Once I get a few overdraft notices I usually move some money around.
It is crazy to leave a lot of money out there in the open that can't be easily returned. No point in keeping more money than necessary in a checking account.

Never. When I was younger and it was a real possibility I kept a hawk like watch on my account.
I would shut all spending down and wait it out.
I've been pretty fortunate with jobs, being in the right place at the right time, etc. I still check my account a lot though, because I've also experienced identity theft.

Why would you get the bank free money when you don't have to?
Posted on 7/6/16 at 12:17 am to redstick13
I overdrafted once because I had my debit card number stolen from a prominent online retailer that got hacked. That was over 10 years ago. Never come close since, but I'm not poor.

Does your hot wife know you're posting this information?
PS to the OP: My bank and I have a preexisting understanding IF that were to ever happen to solve that issue. It hasn't happened and won't happen.

if this is a troll, it might be even more dumb than over drafting

I do it because I have overdraft forgiveness and I get more interest from my Savings than I do checking.
Not overdrafting is giving the bank free money.

Well that depends on the timing of your overdraft and unless you're over drafting big time, I doubt it makes enough of a difference to be worth the hassle

This is the OT, no one overdrafts. This place is full OT baller engineers and OT Finance peeps.
Most have at least $1 million in savings alone. Not to mention stock options, 401K matched to 6-8% and pull in a cool $250,000 per year, salaried. Except for Hammertime.
