Why tip a guy for performing a service with a previously agreed upon price?
There is nothing wrong with it, but I have an issue with it being expected.

price of haircuts have gone up, so my tip has gone down.

Family Cuts is around $14.75, and I always give her a $20. Had one of those $75 haircuts once
You know there's an in-between, right?

And I don't need my scalp massaged while you wash my hair and I don't need a warm towel wrapped around my face.

I went to the same lady until college. So did everyone else in my family. I dont think we ever tipped. Honestly had no clue it was a thing until I was in college and places started taking cards and had a tip line on the receipt. I used to be able to call her up and get an appointment within a few hours. Never had any issues due to not tipping. Its actually hard to wrap my head around tipping being expected for hair cuts. My wife's uncle has a salon and she has always had her hair done for free, so it never came up for her either. Now I shave my own head, but it's still foreign to me.
