Honestly have a discussion with her about you hoping that one day y'all will reach that milestone and that you would like her input on what she likes. Such as which color band (gold, rose gold, silver) and what cut and setting. Go look with her at a jewelry store just to try things on so that YOU have an idea of what SHE likes. Some women like the surprise but some women also wish they got to help choosing it. A really good place is by the mall next to Red Lobster. Not too pricey either. If she likes smaller rings like I did then u won't be paying over 10g for sure. Mine was about 5g and I was able to help and still be just as surprised :) hope that helps.

I just got engaged and used a website called Rare Carat. You will save about 25-40% as opposed to going to a brick and mortar jewelry store. But that's just for the stone. You'll need to buy the band/setting separately. But I had a great experience with them.

If you make 120k you better spend more than 8 grand on a ring

Here is my problem, I don't like to spend money on a rock that cost $1.75 to dig out the ground.

I suppose you're correct. It's not her I'm talking about.
I just don't want her to be talked about and be ran through the gutter by friends and family. I don't want that for her.

More than $5,000 but less than $17,000

Luckily mom Rouge has her wholesale license and can get diamonds for her Jewish friends in new York
The appraisal value on rings is nuts. Can pay 12k for a ring and get it appraised at close to 30k

I live in DC. That's practically minimum wage up here.

Thanks. I appreciate the recommendation

while it is not an investment it also isn't a car, its a diamond, the value won't depreciate.
If you are making 10 grand a month like you claim, buy her a nice diamond you can afford it.

What you can afford. A woman of value will not care about the price.
Not sure if she should even know the cost

15K would be about the right amount IMO.

Get her a top quality CZ and call it a day.
Not one human being you see while wearing it has a chance in he'll knowing it's not a diamond.
fricking diamond rings are THE most ignorant purchase made by men today.

It doesn't have to be a diamond. You could go a gem stone route. If y'all are open about the situation just talk to her about it.

6k now, let her upgrade for your 10 yr anny.

More reasoning to buy her a nice ring

Somewhat true... Most jewelry is worth less than half of what it appraises for. So especially if you buy it from any jewelry store, the reality is that you would be lucky to sell that diamond ring for 25 to 50% of what you paid.
