Let's see.. Going back 10 1996..

I don't think I had the internet in the house until 1997. Then maybe three or four years later dialup was replaced with cable (or dsl).

My first cell phone was one of those nokia phones (I think it was nokia), but it was a flip phone that was heavy as shite.. You had to pull out the antenna. In 2005 I remember thinking blackberry was so awesome because you could check your email, open up excel, access.. office documents then iphone came out when? 2007? I didn't get my first iphone until 2009.. I think, but that really changed things..

Also, I remember getting my first flat screen, HD TV... Thinking.. What can they do to improve the experience of watching TV at this point? Then smart TVs came out and there are tvs with better quality pictures, etc.

With that said, when did HD become available? Before it was available through your cable provider it was able to access the network stations in HD with an antenna right? For some reason I remember going watch a game at some person's house, one of my friends knew.. And we watched the game in HD (it was a network channel, probably CBS) but all of the cable stations were not available in HD.

I am just thinking about it from my experiences, but yeah in 20 years a lot has changed. Also, the way we listen to music has changed. I use to hate having all my CDs in one of those folder.. You could put so many CDs on one page, but sometimes they would slip out the page and when you opened it the CD would fall out.. And it was just bulky. Now, I just plug my phone up in the car and have a lot more music available than I did with a book full of CDs.

It amazes me that people still not familiar with real music services like Spotify don't get it. In 5 minutes yesterday, I went through three 80s collections and created a 90 song playlist of my favorite 80s hits. Downloaded to my phone.
Listened this morning on way to work via bluetooth on car stereo and then at desk on bluetooth speaker.

That still tickles my taint when I think of swapping out multiple CDs to hear 5 songs you liked. And lugging your collection with you to a party or in a friend's car.

OMG how did we make it out of the 70's????
Serious... I remember not having a computer, or mobile phone, or s fuel injected car.... music was available on the radio or Vinyl or 8track and then cassettes... holy shite you actually had to work to make a cassette by mixing music off of different albums.... today's tech makes things way to easy for this generation... don't get me wrong I am posting on my phone so I use these new gadgets... but those who did not live back in my day just don't appreciate how EASY they have it now.....

while I agree with your point, in respect to trucks. Definetly a bigger jump from 76 to 96 than 96 to now.

No.
No there isn't.

I've driven some trucks from the mid-seventies that didn't have power steering and power breaks and the clutch was six inches of heavy spring that would sometimes help you in shifting gears.

While all of the cool new sensors are a huge leap forward, the difference from '76 to '96 was huge.

Wow the 90s sound barbaric. I'm glad I'm a millennial and didn't have to live like a caveman.

When we finally got internet around 97-98 you could see some pretty fricked up shite quite easily though 90's were a great time to be in high school IMO.

sure if we are talking about a tranny's gears.

One being a hydraulic, one being an electro-hydraulic, and one being computer controlled electro- hydraulic.

Then you have the engines. We go from carburated to throttle body fuel injection to multi-port fuel injection.

Then the interiors and the safety options.

A lot of changes.

Though my 2005 E150 work van looks more dated than the 1996 F-150 posted.

i spent 120 dollars on an ipod nano for my birthday in 2002.

if I had taken that 120 dollars and instead bought apple stock with it at the time (it was a round $15 a share then) it would be worth about $5,000.

shite

I didn't have that in the 90's either.

music was available on the radio or cassettes in the 90's, and if you wanted to burn a CD, which we didn't do until closer to 2001, it would take an entire day, literally, and when I did have that CD and wanted to play it in my 1993 Sentra, I had to use a cassette with a wire that went to my portable handheld cd player that skipped every time I hit a bump so it was basically worthless.

90's tech was just a slight bit better than 70's tech. tech today is light years ahead of 90's tech.

I disagree...... but I see your point, but the fact of the matter is that today's young people would not have survived back in those days without what they have now....

How much of it has changed?

All of it. I'm struggling to think of a single thing that has not changed to some extent

First thing that comes to mind would be firearms. Hand guns, hunting rifles, and shotguns are largely unchanged.

they definitely live in a much different world than those that grew up in the 20th century.
someone born in 1982 is considered a millennial, but I would argue that someone born in 1982 has much more in common with how they grew up with someone born in 1972 than someone from 1992.
At 15 years old, the 1982 guy still had to use magazines to pleasure himself, just like the person born in 1972, where as the 1992 kid could just look up whatever he wanted on his iPhone and was likely getting tit pictures sent via text from sluts at his school.

When has that not been true of young people in 30 year chunks? In other words, how is that an indictment of one generation over another.

Registration for LSU classes were once in person at the PMAC (early 90's) then via phone (Reggie, mid-late 90's), then finally online.
