I've never been but I am really trying to go this summer. Would Berlin, Amsterdam, and London be reasonable? Am I doing myself a disservice not going to Paris along that route?

Would the Mediterranean coast be better? Fly into Barcelona, explore the coast of France, and maybe Rome or Venice?

I'd most likely be going solo. I have a 2 week break which is my last big break before the real world and if I can't convince someone that I would actually care to spend 2 weeks with than I'd probably just do it on my own.

That sounds miserable, but 3 cities in two weeks is more than feasible. What route you take highly depends on what you want to see.

Not near enough, you could spend two weeks alone in the countryside of France. It's a pretty objectionable question though. You budget and what you plan to see are major factors

I've been on two month long trips throughout Europe and Russia, I still haven't come close to seeing everything. Venice is my shite though

You can take the Chunnel from London to Paris so if you want to see Paris then you might as well go.

man, you could make it to a hell of a lot more than that in two weeks....the question is, how much time do you want to spend in each place...

personally, no matter what I am doing, I am ready to come home after two weeks....

London, Paris, Amsterdam can all be knocked out in a week then you can do Germany, Austria and Prague in second week.

I spent about 3 days in Amsterdam when I lived in London. I would definitely go to Paris, it's a beautiful city. Venice was also nice, but only needed 2 days there. Personally I would fly into London stay 3 days, go to Paris for 3 days, then either Bruges for 1, and Amsterdam for 2, or Switzerland/Austria for 3, then hit Munich, Berlin, and fly out of Frankfurt. Could possibly hit Prague for a day or so if going the Switzerland route. You can travel at night in some cases and save on hostels.

Sure if you just want to say you were there, actually seeing most of the city and attractions would take much longer. You could spend two weeks in central London alone if you wished.

Yeah that's really the thing. I mean I live in NYC now and I couldn't imagine a foreigner getting a good experience only being here for 2 nights or something so I'm hesitant to just have like 2 nights in the major cities.

It honestly depends on the size of the city and how efficient you are in traveling. I just did a quick two-week trip around central Europe this past summer, met up with friends in a few places a long the way who were also passing through. For cities like Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Vienna, and maybe even Prague, it's very feasible to knock out most of what you want to see in 2 nights or less. Obviously, if you want to do bigger cities with more museums and sights, like Munich, Berlin, London, Paris, etc., it's going to take a lot longer like you say.

If you bang out a fast trip like that, make sure you take care of yourself. I did a lot of pub crawls and didn't really eat well or sleep right and was feeling like arse most of the time during the second half of that trip. All that constant traveling when in that physical state can be pretty taxing. Back to the pub crawl bit, be selective. Most of them just take you around to bars and try to get you hammered before dropping you off at some nightclub. That's fun to a certain extent especially if single and also traveling solo, but I would prefer going to actual pubs in London or beer gardens in Munich if trying to get the real experience.

Have you looked into Eurpoen cruises? Some have many different options for seeing other places that you probably would like to see one day anyways. Santorini, Greece, Paris, Italy, etc. usually last 10-14 days anyways so check it out

I say do like three major cities, and my suggestion is, fly into Amsterdam, (Schipol), major international airport, so affordable flights regularly connect here from transatlantic, to beyond and throughout the EU. Spend 3-4 day in Amsterdam, rent a bike, smoke some weed, bang a hooker, enjoy the sights and scenery. Apart from the vice reputation, the city itself in its historic canal ring, in imho opinion the most aesthetically appealing city I've seen (I could be biased because I live here).

Then from Amsterdam either take flixbus (if you're feeling like a hard-traveling warrior, it's an 8+ hour busride, but surely for under a 100 roundtrip), or fly depending on budget and deals available to Berlin. Spend 4 days in Berlin, and then unless you find better flights from Berlin (doubtful), hop back on the bus (or plane) to Amsterdam and then fly vueling airlines from Schipol (AMS) to El Prat (BCN), Barcelona.

Their hub is in Barcelona, and Schipol is one of the EU's most well-connected airports, so they have a fairly budgetable route back and forth between Amsterdam and Barcelona (usually under 150 roundtrip, I've paid 130 booking my flight less than 12 hours in advance). And then like I said if you need to make the roundtrip back to Dam one last time, it's probably cheaper or a better deal just to buy a roundtrip flight anyway. But explore the flights between those three cities.

In Barcelona, you can do a day or one-night excursion, north to the Costa Brava, which are pristine beaches dotted by coastal resort towns, located within a 1.5 hour busride of the city, and a great way to escape the city crowds and heat, highly recommended. I would say you'll probably want the most time in Barcelona of any city.

on second though your proposed itinerary of London, Berlin and Amsterdam is pretty good, and do-able. What are you looking for in the cities? Nightlife, beaches, architecture, food, cheap?

I would say if you do Barcelona, do it as I said above, because doing the South Mediterranean crawl from there, will be likely more expensive, time consuming and unmanageable than the itinerary i proposed above. If you wanna play it safe and stay sort of regionally clustered to manage time better, but are set on Barcelona (it's my favorite city in the world, so I can't blame you if you are), I would say stay on the Iberian Peninsula, I would do like Barcelona, Andalucia (Grenada, Malaga and Seville), and Lisbon. Or Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian.

Within the Iberian peninsual you coud probably add more places, like 2 big cities (i.e. Barcelona or LIsbon), and 2 or 3 smaller cities (i.e. Grenada or San Sebastian). But if you're doing this on a bigger scale, I wouldn't include more than three major cities, because you'll definitely feel too rushed if you exceed that. So I would say really make a short list of the cities you would really like to see, (or revisit)...

Probably enough to decide that America isn't so bad. That is, if you are still among the living after two weeks is up.

We did Paris, St. Goer Germany, Brugge Belgium and The Hague in two weeks. The Hague was to visit a friend. Rick Steves has a good book on this subject called Best of Europe which can help you plan and squeeze all of the must sees into a certain time period.

I would do 3 cities max in a 2 week span. That way you can really enjoy each city and not waste to much time traveling from city to city

I'm the opposite of this.

I think you can see enough of the major cities in a day or 2 and move on to something else, IMO.

Rome would get old in 4-5 days, same with London IMO. Never been to Paris.
