If I take the same pay I have now, it'd be essentially a raise since COL would be way lower.

All I would need is the offer

My grandma retired right on the Guadalupe river, so I was lucky enough to spend many a summer there growing up. Hill Country is the bee's knees

At least 50%, I work remotely and enjoy the perks of that. For instance, I'm in Chicago right now, tagging along with my wife who is on a work trip. Not to mention, we can pretty much choose to live wherever we want.
In order for me to give up working remotely, I'd want about a 50% raise, which would be significant

That is a great area...maybe 20% which is about what it would take for me to leave Southlake to go anywhere else

6% and I'm gone without looking back

I'd move there in a heartbeat. Even take a pay cut.

50%. Nothing against the area but I've moved a lot in my life and I'm finally starting to put down roots here. Not ready to uproot and start over yet.

A really close friend of mine lives there. He loathes life.
Close to Austin though so I'd move if the cost would cover a time machine with a twenty year range on it.

That area is way better than anywhere in Louisiana

I'd love to live somewhere like that, but I don't know that I could do it as a younger single guy.

I wouldn't have either but it would be a great area for a married with kids type like myself.

Moving from Houston? No pay difference.
Now if you were my boss asking this...
20% raise as a starting negotiating point.
My company actually has projects here so it's a pretty real possibility this exact scenario could play out

Youd be an hour or so away from two great cities to be single in. Either get a hotel or make some friends in those cities and do your partying on the weekends.

I wouldn't need more than 10%.

a good friend who is quite intelligent told me once that if an employer asked him to make a life changing move, they need to pay him life changing money. I agree with that.

10% as long as the cost of living doesnt increase and the public schools are good

Do I have to live in an apartment, house in subdivision, suburbs with 2 acre lot, or 40 acres and a house outside of town.
That's what decides it for me
