My first year out of school in 2002 I made 15k as a teacher. Last year I made 40 times that amount.

It just blows my mind.

I try not to worry about what other people make. I have a fairly nice house, two vehicles (ones paid for, the other isn't), a pretty good job that pays what I think is a decent amount of money and I like it, and it's a bitch for me to move $1000 into savings.

Meanwhile, one of my friends has over $100k in some kind of investment account, no debt, a fine arse car that's paid for, and makes about 15% more than I do with the same amount of years out of school.

Sometimes I can't help but feel like I'm getting fricked

I make about 90% more now than I did when I first started working in 2010.

My wife had an awful major and started off at extremely low pay at the end of 2012. She now makes 800% more than she did. The gender wage gap is pure horse shite.

most of those in this thread must have started out with extremely low pay right out of college.

Engineering.

400% since 2001.

It'll be 1000% if the right things happen this year.

Yea I'm going with that theory because otherwise I feel like a complete poor broke arse failure. Applying these numbers to what I started at tells me I should have a yacht and I most definitely did not have a top paying job for and engineer grad.

Finished in 2007

Signed an employment agreement for $29,500 at my first job in early 2008. Ended up making about $40,000 with overtime.

Made about $300k in 2015. All of a sudden corporate was all over my arse and all the upper management started mentioning how much money I was making. Start of 2016 the bastards changed my pay structure and reassigned my accounts so I made about $165k for the year.

I quit early 2017 to work for a competitor. Getting sued over the noncompete right now.

frick big corporations.

So you're making $200k now and hope to be making $500k, in engineering?
