And that doesn't even take into consideration all the women.

It's very common in Atlanta. Most practices are now owned by PE firms.

$0. Law school didn't pay me. But I also didn't have to pay them.

Yes - she is the one that I know who used a management firm. The practice was very successful for over 40 years (it was over 20 years established before I bought it). Took her 3 years to run it into the ground.

Don't get me wrong - there is a great market for corporate practices. But they generally employ kids right out of dental school. They practice there for a few years then move on to their own practice. It's a great learning environment. And I can see how one who employs these kids gets the impression that they don't know shite about the business end. And fresh out of school, they don't. But the typical path is for people to associate a few years then buy a practice. And it's not that hard. If someone tries to do it on their own from day one, they ARe setting themselves up to fail.

Frustrating true. Main reason the people making the most money in healthcare aren't the providers. Doesn't help that we are very restricted in what we can do to profit from our own work. I can't even own a hospital, or a pharmacy, or anything else that would make sense for me to own. Or if I can, it's such a small percent that it limits my control or profitability.

But some of us manage alright.

i have no clue. should probably know that since she's my sister

i dunno how big the group or operation is. i just know they have multiple offices and are still expanding which i was surprised about for some reason. think the guys that run it are in fact dentists though.
