How much is going to space worth to you?

As Elon has continued spending all the money on commodifying space travel over the last few years, I’ve become more solidified in my position that if commercial space flight drops below six figures, I’m going to have a hard time saying no in the next couple of decades, retirement savings be damned.
So, do you care? Would you refuse a trip into space even if it were free? Or would you be willing to drop a significant amount of money to make it happen? If so, what’s your break point?

If we had a space elevator thing where you could just go up there for a day or two...stay in a hotel in space then come back, sure. But to actually do a mission length trip in space...nah

Idk man. Looking out of a window for 19hrs and then landing at your destination where you'll get to look out of another window just doesn't do it for me.
I'll be down after some more advancement. Would do a moon walk or something like that.

Different strokes, I guess. I decided a few years ago that it’s a life goal of mine to walk on every continent (including that frozen bitch to the south) and breathe the spray of every ocean before I die. Adding going to space would be a frick of a cherry on top.

It's not as if you're in a hard, cramped, economy class seat. You're in microgravity. After nine minutes pulling a couple of g's, you just float around the rest of the trip.
Astronauts have long reported that it's so comfortable that if they're tired, they can often just fall asleep without even realizing they were falling asleep. When you doze off, there's no head-snapping from gravity, so you just sleep. Staring out of the window at a view that your brain can't really grasp is going to eat up hours. The rest of it will pass with a couple of movies, a video game, and a nap.
You might need that nap, too, because once you get on the space station, the noise, lights, and activity might make sleep difficult.

Exactly. I know there was an eight hour block of scheduled sleep on this trip, and those guys actually have some shite to do. Doesn’t seem like it would be all that bad as a passenger.

How long do I get to be in space for?
I’d pay probably double first class seat prices for an international flight where you get to dip your toes in space for a bit.
If i win the lottery, I’d pay them whatever the frick they want just to see that view of earth in person one time.

I imagine it would vary. If you stayed in zero G for longer than a few hours, passengers would likely need quite a bit of training. Taking a piss in zero G sounds like no joke, and I imagine anyone who could afford the trip would object to a sealed diaper

That’s pretty cool. I’m not even a big fan of flying, but if my kids were taken care of, I’d drop 10k to take a ride to space. Hell, would be better if they came too.
