There's a YouTube vid of a German Olympic cyclist giving max effort on a stationary bike hooked up to a generator and a small toaster. He could barely brown a piece of white bread. Average gym rat on a bike could barely get the elements hot, forget TV's and lights.

A typical 2-slot toaster will draw 4-6 times as much current as a 60" LED TV at moderate volume. For LED lighting in a 1500sqft home, the toaster will draw ~5x as much current as the lighting. That's not a fair fight. Since the death of incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tube TVs, a vast majority of your home's power requirements will be in HVAC, water heating, cooking appliances, and clothes washer/dryer motors and heating.

Never made it past circuits at LSU. Wish I did, had I graduated in 2004 like I should have, I'd be making at least 2x as much as I am now, with who knows how much more money in equity.

If I remember right from HVAC class, a person generates 500 BTUH at rest, so if you could just harness that energy, you would have something decent.

Very tough class with Aravena, Powerman needed three attempts if I remember correctly.

The power plants could shut down the first week of January.

I actually did pass on my 3rd try, but dropped out of school for a while before finishing at UNO. I did the opposite of what everyone else does and started in accounting, got bored because of how easy it was, and switched to EE. Didn't change my studying habits and got my arse beat. Circuits being only available at 7:30AM didn't help.
