A lot. Don't forget feed, a ferrier, vet, not to mention someone to ride it regularly...

Horses are expensive.

It varies depending on the horse obviously, there isn’t just a flat horse cost

$7-10k for a decent horse you can ride or work with.

If you are boarding at a stable probably $6-10k/year

My dads horses go from about 12k to 30k for roping horses.

The cost of the horse is very small compared to the cost of owning and/or keeping the horse alive

What kind of riding? Do you plan on competing? Clearly you have zero experience.

You can get a decent horse for much less than that. The market is only really great at the upper end right now.
