Is it customary to tip an extra $20 above?

I usually throw in an extra $1,000 or two.

I can't tell if you are trying to be funny or if you are asking a legit question. Either way, thread sucks.

There are videos on pornhub that go into detail on this very topic.

At closing nothing. That's what their cut is for.

Now it is common to tip $20 or so for every house they show you. Especially if they are showing you more than one a day.

Back when I was in real estate, I’d receive between a few hundred and 1k on occasion. This was mostly commercial though. Alstbough I had an older couple that bought and flipped houses and they’d tip me $500 every time.

This is really surprising to me. In fact every real estate transaction I've had my real estate agent got ME something rather than the other way around (nice bottle of wine, gift card to a restaurant or Home Depot/Lowes, etc) because they just got paid a nice chunk of change.

Never even heard of this and we've bought 3 houses and sold 2 using a real estate agent every time.

Wha? Why would you ever do this? They are getting paid when you buy/sell a house. If anything, your realtor should give YOU something.

as long as the house isnt over 250k then a 50k tip is standard, if the house is over 300k then you better be tipping at least 100k or you are trashy

Realtors should not be accepting money related to real estate outside of an official transaction (closing/lease signing). Do not tip them.

And the money should be going through their broker. So you should be tipping with a check in this scenario.
