So, almost $1,100/year on your hair. That's wild. I assume you are a woman and blonde. All of the new stylists trying to start out seem to cater to blondes.

$15 and I hand him a $20 bill. He’s 65 years old and has cut my hair for 30 years.

Woman, yes. Blonde, no.

My hairdresser is older. Not starting out. She works out of a shop at her house almost as a hobby.

Yep. $1,083 per year. And no intention of stopping. Add in mani/pedis and I am pretty expensive to maintain.

The trick is all these punk wannabes try and just use clippers. That's because they suck with the scissors.

This… mine doesn’t use clippers at all.

Find an old white man barber who takes only cash. Should not be more than 15 bucks. I tip 5 and so bring a 20.

Bracing for downvotes.

$30. No tip.

Context…I’ve been going to this guy for ~25 yrs. He used to work for a bigger barbershop and then went out on his own and I kept going to him. When he was with the bigger barbershop, I’d tip $3-4. Now, it’s just him—solo shop, all the money goes to him. He used to charge high teens and I’d tip to make it an even $20. He would increase his price by a dollar or so every year or two. When he got to $20, I’d tip to make it an even $25 just to make it easy. Once he got over $25, I stopped tipping and he’s now at $30. I gladly pay it though. Good guy, MAGA as hell.

My thinking is this. All the money goes to him, so is it necessary to tip? Also, I’m gonna go to him until he retires and I’ll pay whatever he charges. And he knows this. If he charged $40, I’d pay it. So I feel like, if he wants $40 to cut my hair, he’d charge $40 and I’d pay the $40. So why tip?

Zero.

My wife's hairdresser is keeping her camper on my property (I have lots of space) so we get that hair done free.

$30 + tip

I used to also get a shoe shine, but the shine man died, and it doesn’t look like there will be a replacement hired.

For all you shoe shine men, your industry is going away, so start training in another skill.

$60 and it comes with a beard trim, neck shave and hot towel. Tip him $20 but he’s a good friend as well. Get it done the 22nd of every month unless it’s a Sunday then I do it the day before.

I go to Great Clips. $18 plus a $10 tip.

The great clips by me usually has a coupon for 9.99. I’ll tip her 20.00 because she takes really good care of me and throws in a quick neck massage.

$35 plus tip but I don’t go that often.

My teenager is paying $30 and goes every 3wks. Annoying.
