How old were you when you hit state fifty? That's a cool story to have, motorcycle trek to Alaska.

31 or so, I lived in Alaska in middle school and went back to visit old friends. It's not that hard to go to Alaska anymore, pretty easy road when I did it, not much different than out west. Up to Prudhoe is a challenge though.

North Dakota was my last state. I did a trip just to get it and come back. I want to work on state capitals next. Got quite a few of those.

I'm sure many of you have yet to see Rushmore. It's kind of gay, but completely impressive in scale. Rapid City is actually a nice little town, many great dining options.

Rushmore was completely unimpressive for me. Seemed small and was just boring. The native american one they have been building for decades was much worse though.

I haven't been to Alaska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, West Virgina, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

42/50 isn't bad, IMO. Alaska and Vermont are the two I want to visit the most.

Dumb question, but I am not a biker because I'm a pussy Momma's boy, scared of TBI, but what do you do when you roll into a big rain or sand storm in the middle of nowhere?

You ride until you no longer feel safe to ride, motorcycle gear nowadays keeps you completely dry and can work in almost any temp. It's not that big of a deal. Visibility is the main issue. I ride year round in all conditions. Of course I have a bike I am comfortable in riding in snow/rain/etc. Have ridden through snow storms in the San Juan Mountains and Sierra Nevadas. Got turned back because of snow closing the road. Fun times. Last time I went to Yosemite, Tioga got closed and I had to go around up to Tahoe and across. Just got to go slow and easy.

Haven't hit a sand storm bad enough to cause visibility issues. Always wanted to go through one to see what they are all about, but weather hasn't cooperated.

I was fortunate to have grandparents that enjoyed traveling. I would spend between 3 and four weeks every summer riding with them around the US. It sarted when they booked us a flight from NOLA to Tampa Bay to take my sister and I to Disney world. They asked me where we wanted to visit the next year, and we decided D.C. It all started there. We went into Mexico and Canada, but only visited for the day. Here is a list of the states that I heve not been to, or didn't spend a lot of time in...

Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Some North Dakota love here. I went to Fargo on business a few years back, incredibly clean place, flush with new money. Very surprising town. Not a lot going on, but many worse places to be.

It'll be hard for em to drop 50 on them in Dallas when they are playing in Houston.
States I haven't been to:
Maine
N.Hampshire
Conn.
Del.
Mass.
Penn.
Ind.
Wis.
Mich
Minn.
Dist. of Columbia
Dos Virginias
Dos Dakotas
Wash.
Vermont
Hawaii
So 34 I guess.

I couldn't see either girls.

You should definitely get to Oregon/Washington, it is a wonderful part of the country.

My best vacation ever was when the wife and I started dating, we flew out to Seattle, rented a convertible Mustang, and drove the coast to San Diego, camping along the way. A must do road trip for any American.

It is. Very satisfying and peaceful to be somewhere (even temporary) where you can see no sign of man and spectacular scenery. If the West were heavily populated, it would be ruined IMO.

It's not weak. Many people have never left their region at 25. Many.
