There is a church in Scottsdale, AZ called Impact Church that is extremely popular (Impact Church). It was founded by former Cardinals player Andre Wadsworth. Quite a few friends attend and have tried to get me to attend. I watched one of the services on YouTube and the main pastor in an absolute cheeseball. Apparently a recovering addict or alcoholic (aren't they all?) but has been "saved". My friends say he lives in a huge house and drives a Range Rover and Mercedes. I'm embarrassed for my friends who contribute to this charlatan.
Check out this chach:

When the church stops aiding the enemies of our country I might consider it

Truth is, most of those types don't mention ANYTHING about "what we are doing wrong". Mostly feel good stuff.

Yes, I go to a church with high integrity. We see where all the money goes. I am grateful to get to invest in the Gospel being spread, and people being cared for. We really believe in eternity and we are into long term investments.
Those kind of churches are really out there along with fraudulent churches of course. 10% is not a big deal. The early church gave all they had.

I said extravagant vacations. Multiple. Very extravagant.

So, if you make $120K a year, then you tithe $1K per month.
Frick. That.
I donate my time where I can, no church involved.

He's one of the prosperity gospel grifters. The more you give to God, I mean his church, the more you'll receive in your own life. He's good buds with Joyce Meyer.

It's actually secular morality

Brah. Even animals show compassion and love and understanding.
If anything religion makes people act holier than thou. Pun intended

It’s the first 10%. So that’s before everything else. So it’s gross.
Yes I do.

So where do you go for the church community as the Bible says?
“ not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another”
“ Christians gather together to express gratitude for God's salvation”
“ Christians gather together to promote fellowship”
So what do you do to continue to be a doer of the word here?

we were hard core tithers and givers, eventually we realized it was mostly going to salaries, buildings, trips, conferences, staff missions trips to Paris, etc (it is a mega church). Now we overtip. That puts the money directly into the hands of someone who is willing to work for it.

10% tithe to the church is wild to me. There's a sucker born every minute.
