If you read the article, it says that they can be approved to telework.

They aren't just "staying home."

Yeah it's only for tele-work ready employees. Meaning they are able to do their jobs from home which saves money for everybody.

Read the damn article before you post.

You actually believe these GORVERNMENT employees will be as productive at home as in the office?

Of course the above statement is based on the assumption they are productive in the office

Probably more productive. On the rare instances when I telework, I get a lot more done because I normally start earlier and end a little later...no commute.

Plus, I don't have to deal with nuisance interruptions.

Not a government employee, though.

Working from home can get quite boring

I try to do it occasionally, but usually get bored and go to my office after lunch.

I can do telework with my job. It is hard to stay focused on the job at hand. I really try to stay at the office for work

My FIL is a telework-ready fedgov employee. He ends up working from home around a day a week and will do so when he's working on items for a project and cannot be distracted by other people.

I work for a private company and can telework as needed. End up doing so about once a month for similar reasons.

If I need to stay home and work I can. Get kind of boring though to be honest. Would rather be around people. Useful for when the kids are sick or service tech is coming to the house.

It's a good think you capitalized government otherwise everyone in the thread would've completely missed the word and just assumed you were talking about the public and private sector.

What a jackass.

I wish I could do that for my job. Everything I do here, I can do at home.

Well since many of them only work from like 9-2:30 and get 45 vacation days a year, it's no wonder government jobs take so damn long.

This. Depending on your profession, working from home isn't all it's cracked up to be IMO. Sort of like being home schooled - it sounds great on the surface, but after a few days you're going to miss human interaction.
