Im strongly considering this, but a friend of mine says that on live sporting events there is usually a 20-30 second delay from actual real time. He said he something big happens he gets a text or tweet before he gets to see it on his TV.

So far that is the only issue I have found on the negative side. Sling TV looks very appealing, cheap and gives me the channels I want/need as well as an HBO option.

I have. I'm now with PS Vue. I picked PS over Sling bc PS carries Fox News. $40/month.

Baw, if you can't enjoy the game without having to look at a text in 20 to 30 seconds then you've got more issues than the cable bill.

Change it so your phone only says the name rather than "That POS blew the game!"

Did it a year ago.

Why is this an issue for people? As long as it's "live" for you, what does it matter?

I guess the point you want to know at the exact time it happens. Its just the day and age in which we live in. I used watch ESPN this baseball season for a lot of games and they were always a good bit behind realtime.

We did about 2 years ago and yes there is about a 20 second delay on SlingTV. I just watch OTA on CBS and don't open Twitter or read texts during the game.

Yup, no real issues so far... the main problem is lack of a DVR, so if I don't catch a show live I have to wait for it to come on demand, but with network apps that's sometimes as soon as the next day.

I haven't gone through a football season yet, though. I'll be sure to not check my phone until commercial breaks.

That's fine and good for the major networks, but completely irrelevant for cable sports.

Go check out teh tech board, there are a ton of threads and set ups people share.

I cut the cord last year when I moved to NOLA for med school. I couldn't afford cable so I didn't really have an option

I have an $8 RCA indoor antenna I found at dollar general that works perfectly for all local channels. I have netflix and amazon prime

I use my dad's login for watchespn and other TV apps

I can honestly say I have never had trouble watching anything I wanted to, live or otherwise

edit: wanted to add that I use a roku stick and fire stick for everything

also have Cox internet. 50 Mb/s for $50 a month with school discount
