A person of culture followed my family down Chartres, which included two young girls, asking for money for some stupid shite even though I didn't interact with him at all. Finally gave him $5 after he said, "Hey look man, I could be out here robbing families with a knife instead of trying to make an honest living."
These jackasses have been around a long time, but usually left families alone. The area needs a severe culling if the French Quarter is going to survive.

I've been popping in every "shite on New Orleans" thread.
We live about halfway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
In the last year:
*Went with all the kids down to Jackson Square/Cafe Dumonde/French Market.
*Took 15 yr old to see Van Gogh(parked kind of far and walked around CBD).
*Took the same 15 yr old to see Hamilton at the Saenger(parked in blacktop parking lot a few blocks away)
*Went to LSU/FSU game. Parked across I-10 near medical school.
*Went with a friend to French Quarter and Saint's MNF game vs Ravens(stayed at Hilton Riverside and went all over FQ and CBD that day).
We've had no issues. Been great every time. Except for the outcome of the football games we attended. And why is my 15 yr old the only 1 of 4 kids with any appreciation for the arts?
The people who downvoted this hate to hear that someone say something that goes against their perception that no one can go to New Orleans without being robbed or killed.

Windows busted out in '16 at city park, while attending a wedding

Got ran over by a drunk driver near Preservation Hall going out after my sister's wedding several years ago. Somehow I didn't have anything worse than a sore back for a day or two.

I got banned from Pat O'Briens back in the 80's.
I probably deserved it. I haven't chanced going back.
That's all I've got say about it.

Nah. I’ve since moved from there. In the United States of Lakeview now. Also don’t own any TD gear.

And you can work at a McDonalds in Covington just as easy as you could in New Orleans buddy.
Yeah - and where are you going to live in Covington on a McDonald’s salary?

A skank tried to rob me once on canal st. Left hotel in search of food at 4am during mardi gras many years back. She came up behind me grabbing on me and felt her go for my money clip. Grabbed her by her wrist and yelled in her face that i only wanted food. She said "n word please" and walked away. I'm white btw

2002 - Godsmack/Deftones concert at UNO.
That was a good concert. Didnt puddle of mudd open after some band dropped out last minute? We were front row for deftones. I couldn't take the suffocation after they finished and watched godsmack from the seats

Move away like a coward?
What?

Why on earth would moving away make you a coward?

A black stripper was entertaining me in the VIP section of her establishment on Boutbon Street when she decided it was a great time to rob me with the help of her bouncers.
It was still worth it though.

No, you don’t. You realize that life is very short and it should be spent somewhere you love but also have piece of mind and not always have to be paranoid about where and when I can go places.
Honestly speaking, who really would love to live in a place like that?
Sounds absolutely miserable.
