That's always the case when the kid is very young.

Wait till they're older and they stop playing with the box and roll their eyes at the gift! Good times.

If your kids are young enough to wanna just play with the box, you spent too much. If they are older, your kids are just dumb.

Last night a nephew's lil tyke played with 2 out of a 30 metal car set and rolled around in the wrapping paper. The other gifts were ignored.

I've never bought them a toy, only really expensive boxes that come with free toys.

They got some cheap nerf guns yesterday. Today they got drones, rc cars, games, electronics, etc. They are outside playing with 30 dollars worth of nerf guns.

At least they are being active

What about adults who play with detergent boxes and toilet paper?

Exactly. My 7yo asked for a karaoke machine that was white and it had all these flashing lights on it. It looked cool but the reviews were horrendous on it. So we got a black one that you can hook a tablet up to and has thr lights. We were thinking hey she just got a tablet for her birthday, this will be great. Yeah she unwraps the box and immediately says what happened to the white one with the lights? My wife and I were like WTF. Of course now that she see's how it works she loves it but its always amazing the things get fixated on when it comes to toys.

PS- Cant wait to see how many typical OT responses we get saying my 7yo is racist and is only happy with white toys.
