Not sure I could stay friends with a guy that thinks like that. It would make me question our entire friendship, because someone who has that mindset doesn't have much in common with me. It would make me question if the guy was just playing a role to fit in before this. It would make me think the guy is not genuine or an outright liar.
That is to say if this is the first time you are hearing this kind of thing being said by him. Otherwise, if he is constantly playing the victim role...well, you need different friends.

I've never known anyone that got fired for not having a Facebook account. One of the reasons that I don't.
