I'm more afraid of people I love/care about dying than I am of dying. The thought of living without certain people in my life is terrifying to me.

We have come from God, and inevitably the myths woven by us, though they contain error, will also reflect a splintered fragment of the true light, the eternal truth that is with God. Indeed only by myth-making, only by becoming ‘sub-creator’ and inventing stories, can Man aspire to the state of perfection that he knew before the Fall. Our myths may be misguided, but they steer however shakily towards the true harbour, while materialistic ‘progress’ leads only to a yawning abyss and the Iron Crown of the power of evil.

What if the afterlife are just your memories from your previous life played out like home videos? If you were a good person overall, then you would have all the good times replayed over and over again for all eternity. If you were a shitty person, then you obviously replay all the bad moments in your life for all eternity.

I hope I go before wife, kids or grandkids for sure. I’m 54 , I’m think of getting my plot picked out soon and have everything arranged at the funeral home to be less of a burden on my family

When I finally approach that deadline, I'll definitely be too numb to know about it. All I ask is let it be quick, don't let me linger around and put more unnecessary grief on my family.

Me. I'm really sick of my life but cannot commit suicide because my family depends on me and I still have some believe in the afterlife.

Beautiful.

I would add that we should try to live such that our list of regrets (regerts) is extremely short, especially as it concerns our fellow man.

The best that we can hope for is to die in our sleep.

Once this life ends you can't go back. So no, I'm not looking forward to or excited about death because that means I'm not enjoying this phase of my existence fully. When it comes I will accept it and hopefully there's more to my existence after this one. But who truly knows? All the more reason to live in the moment.

The death of certain posters' posting privileges here would excite me.

Sounds like you might be more into edging than going over that rainbow bridge, if you are excited?
