Moreno has one decision to make and one only to be the GOAT NOLA mayor….

… when she gets an office, fire Henry consulting and hire Sid Torres IV waste.

That’s it.

this is from a poll released June 11
quote:

City Council Vice President Helena Moreno boasts a wide lead in the mayoral race: 47% of voters who responded to the poll said they were most likely to vote for Moreno, while 22% said they would vote for Council member Oliver Thomas. Moreno's campaign declined to comment. Moreno, who is White and Hispanic, leads Thomas, who is Black, among white voters by a "lopsided" margin of 72% to 3%, Faucheux noted. Thomas leads Moreno among Black voters by a 10-point margin. "To win, Thomas needs to substantially increase his margin among Black voters," Faucheux said.

also, when it comes down to people who actually vote and not just “the electorate”, it’s not as hopeless as it may seem
quote:

"You have an electorate, especially in mayoral races that is roughly 50-50, white-Black now," JMC pollster John Couvillion said. "So, Helena Moreno, in addition to having strong support from white Democrats, white independents, and Republicans, she gets a quite respectable 29% of the black vote."

Republicans have zero desire to enter the conversation. They just sit outside and bitch and start social media accounts complaining.

Why would any respectable republican waste their money or reputation trying to run for mayor?

I’m trying to think of the last person that would have been good that ran and I believe it was Ron Foreman.

the tide will turn at some point. Moreno would be a good transitional mayor…without the burden of, for example, the landrieu family legacy of pandering for black votes. If a two term Moreno administration can do the bare minimum of restoring confidence in city government to at least be professional, prepared and present, a white republican mayor is a possibility given the demographics and the need for leadership. It will only take a little progress among black voters to see results

voting along racial lines goes both ways…there must be a viable white candidate for white voters to support. Moreno can do this and the fact that she currently can count on 1/3 black support is astoundingly good news for the future

Every one will be worse than the previous, but logically you have to wonder how they even can be worse. You would think that at some point probability wise, the pool of worse candidates would get smaller and smaller and smaller, but yet mayor after mayor, NO keeps finding them.

New Orleans needs a tremendous infrastructure investment. Probably in the billions. Nothing can get better until the city and state accept that, but neither can afford it and it's career suicide to admit it to your voter base.

Exactly. Would just rather bitch about democrats ruining the city than actually do anything.

Cantrell has been the worst mayor in the history of mayors, the only thing close to her complete failure has been Marion Barry. It’s easy to look from the outside and say that the problem is the electorate and there plenty of evidence of that, but that is underselling the damage that Cantrell herself has done to this city. It cannot be overstated how awful she has been

I agree but if there was a election today, she would get re-elected.

Why do people who don’t live in New Orleans and clearly have no idea of the popularity of Moreno continue to speak in absolutes.

Cantrell is not popular here. She survived a poorly organized recall effort, but that’s no indication of her popularity. If she faced
Moreno she would go down.

This. Of course Moreno is a liberal but that's all you're going to get in Orleans Parish which is deep blue politically, 82% voted for Kamala. At least Moreno isn't broke and isn't running for mayor just to get free travel and fringe benefits like teedy did. Moreno has a quality spouse too, which would also be a big departure from teedy.

she won multiple citywide elections for state rep AND city council at large, many times by wide margins. She has universal name recognition both from her time at WDSU (where she was pretty much beloved) and from her very visible council stand against Latoya’s bullshite. Honestly she’s the perfect candidate to get past the incompetence and criminality of black politics in New Orleans

A Moreno admin will try to institute far left policies this city has never seen.

But… she won’t steal and embarrass us
