This year, we’ve had 4 instances of students bringing a gun to school. Today, we had two students at my campus arrested for waving a fake gun out of their car window at people passing by.

The first instance involved a 4-year old boy taking a loaded pistol to school. You obviously can’t blame a 4-year old, but what kind of parenting allows that to happen (I’m sure I already know). Another instance was a real gun, but no ammo. The other two involved kids who were ratted out by friends, then hauled arse out the door when campus officers approached.

I assume there was no intent to use the weapons, which makes this even more idiotic. Kids are just taking guns to school to act badass, show and tell, etc. I assume this is happening elsewhere….?

ETA: changed title for this year

We had a kid bring a gun to school. He showed it to a group of us. We thought it was cool. Pow! Pow!

I used to go to class armed with this bad boy every single day.

Now, I hear they've even banned it. Shameful.

I also once had my clip knife fall out of my pocket. I think it was seventh grade. The teacher just gave me a dirty look and that was that. I kept carrying it because that's just what you do.

Many people had guns in their car

And our school even had a shooting team

And no one ever slammed little kids into walls for no reason

I used to bring one to hide outside of school, had to ride a bike back in the early 90s and the most danger was to and from.

A kid shot a teacher at my school. He was pissed off at her. Brought a gun and shot her in the leg.

I wasn't in that class. Yes, public school.

I hope this isn't counted as any of those instances.

Why be so picky? In 1988 every truck had one in the back window.

Only because he couldn’t get his hands on a gun, a certain generation of people in this country stood zero chance after LBJ and this is what we get.

My next door neighbor at the time was the actually supposed to be teaching in that classroom but was on sabbatical that year.

Because copy cats are out in full force, and these kids have some serious issues. They’ve been locked up from Covid, more addicted to their phones than ever. I’ve seen multiple students in 6th grade that are “afraid” to take their masks off.

Taking a gun to school back in the day usually meant you had a shotgun mounted in your truck.
