Gotta love when opiate users think they are so much better than IV opiate users because they don't shoot up.

I've used my share and more over the years and I've kicked more than a couple of hardcore habits but I managed to stay away from the needle, aside from a few week-long hospital stays and some great IV Dilaudid, for two reasons...

1. The thought of needles makes me want to puke.

2. I always knew that if I ever tried it, there'd be no going back. Once you're on the needle, any drug you do is going in the rig.

One of my younger brothers is a junkie - track marks on his lower arms. Not a junkie in the traditional sense, but a junkie nonetheless. It's a very sad state of affairs for him and my folks are not helping the situation at all by allowing him to stay there as they are defacto enablers.

It's unfortunate as well because they really think "love" will cure his ills and it has been proven time and time again that drugs>love or family.

And for the record, my family is affluent, lives in a great house and neighborhood, private schooled, parents married 44 years, etc so that just goes to show you that it happens in all segments of society.

If you have a problem, I hope you get the help you need

The people I know who mainlined aren't the smartest tools in the shed. There is a bad spirit about it that hooks people.

I've made some mistakes in my life but I'd never ever go so low as to shove a needle in my arm. I can't even fathom that.

That's not what it's about man, you're looking at it as an outsider. I understand where you're coming from and I can appreciate that, but you're not doing yourself any good by feeling that way about it.

That being said, I hope everything works out for you and your family.

Are you using "mainline" to mean IV usage in general or mainline like central IV (superior vein, artery, etc.)?

Still on it?

You don't have to answer but I hope you don't consider yourself sober if you are.

you'd be surprised. In college it was more common than you'd think. People just keep it on the d/l cuz it's not a party drug like coke or mdma

I hate needles. No way could I ever inject myself with anything. I hope like hell I never become diabetic.
