The only negative I can think of for owning land (even unused land) is having to pay taxes on it.
Otherwise hoard all you can.
When the US Government is the biggest land owner in the country, that should make you feel uneasy.

Part interest in 13,000 acres in Montana, 4400 acres in Northern New Mexico, 5 acres with my house.
