In cenfla it has already crashed homes aren't selling, real estate agents stopped doing open houses. People are more worried about toilet paper than moving to a big new house.

I've got two rental units that have been advertised since Feb and I've got no calls to see the apartments since last month. At this time, no one is moving because of virus fears. In a few months when these small businesses go under, no one will have the money to move.

Couple that with the uncertainty of jobs and employment and the market has tanked. Trump expects this shut down to last until August. How many people will still have work then?

Employment in the Restaurant, Retail, Hotel, Travel, Airline industries are going to be non existent and the jobless aren't going to be buying houses. The banks will be foreclosing on theirs.

The market will be flooded with cheap foreclosed housing with very few buyers in the fall. This will be worse than 2008.

China has crippled the west economically with this virus. China 1, USA 0.

Most bars, restaurants, companies that do event production etc are laying off employees so they will eligible for unemployment benefits since they don't know when they'll reopen. That's a ton of layoffs right there.

I think the housing market can handle bartenders and servers not getting paid for a month.

Hopefully someone will jump on these low interest rates and buy my damn house. Been trying to sell for over 18 months. Frustrating as shite.
I find it difficult to believe someone actually would voluntarily publicly post a statement that shows them to be so dumb.

Hey idiot, Trump says to expect the restrictions through August. That is six months of no work for the service industry. Shopping centers closed, retail employment will tank.

This is a major economic catastrophe. Just look at how much the NCAA and NBA have lost by cancelling. Now look at airline industry, hospitality, service.

Not everyone is white collar and can work from home. The majority can't.

States that have oil and gas are about to have a crash. Layoffs will be coming soon in a big way.
27 dollar a barrel oil puts a lot of companies OOB.

I don't live in a rural area. Where I live, these layoffs include managerial staff and salespeople of corporate event meetings, lighting/sound engineers for concerts etc etc etc. . .

It's not only wait staff at the Waffle House, so, yes, many who do own or are buying homes/expensive condos.

How much it affects the market I do not know but it does make your "who's getting laid off" comment seem a bit uninformed.

Hey idiot,

Hey!

replying to OP saying the housing market would collapse in 4 weeks due to layoffs. Someone pointed out the layoffs bc of the service industry. I don’t think that will happen

This virus will have more impact on renters. Renters can't make payment and the landlord can't pay mortgages therefore housing market will crash. It's a chain effect
