Mine is about 30 yards, bedroom to back glassed in patio where I have my home office set up.

My debate is living in the country out by Castroville and driving into Alamo Heights every day for work/school/wife to go to gym or just living in Alamo Heights and accepting the fact that I'm gonna have to pay damn near a million dollars on a big house.
That's a shite load of driving but I love being out in the country way more than trapped in the city. Castroville is slow as hell and I can buy a huge house for cheap.

It takes me 10 minutes to get to work. A little longer in the evening because of traffic

The school I'm thinking of lets you pay a few thousand bucks tuition to go there. I can't find many other publics that do this.

I wouldn't live in a location where I needed to send my kids to private schools. More than likely, my values and those people in that community would not mix well.
I wouldn't either. I plan to have a lot of kids anyway so I doubt I'll be able to afford sending all of them to any good private school.
I could send my kids to the local school where I'm thinking about moving but I want them to go to the same school as I did.

My current commute is about 35-40 minutes from New Iberia to Franklin. It's mainly all highway and little to no traffic. I don't mind it. Might start listening to audio books during the commute.

7-9 minutes depending on lights.

5, maybe 10 minutes (no interstate).
The commute to work wouldn't bother me, it's the commute back. Leaving work at 5:30, 6:00 - I strictly don't want to face another hour worth of driving.
I don't want to roll into the driveway at 7:00 (presumptively missing my kid's athletic events, school plays, etc.) because of an enduring commute.

Why do you feel the need to have a "huge house"?

Am 25-35 minutes
Pm 30-45 minutes
Longest I will do is 40 minutes without traffic and that number is dropping by the year. Traffic sucks arse.

Because I'm going to have 6+ kids.

I guess after having been stationed in the boonies I love being back in the city environment.

30-45 minutes depending on traffic, all highway 55+mph, very easy drive overall. Don't mind the commute now, but would like to reduce it once I start having kids

Work from home.....first job out of LSU was in Orange County, California. Took me an hour to work and 1:15 home. I swore after that I would live next door to my next job...I ended up 400 yards away from that next office.

20 minutes to work 40 minutes home. Stupid L.A. traffic.

Mine is 25 minutes.
Longest I would consider is one hour.

Why in particular the number 6? And potentially why more after 6?
