How long is acceptable for a car dealership service to have a car for a brake job?

I contacted to dealership on Aug 3rd to make an appointment for service. They gave me an appointment on Sept 8th. Dropped off the vehicle on the 8th and as of today they still have not completed the job because they are “short staffed”. Is this normal in these crazy times?

If I made an appt I’d be in there raising all kinds of hell at the end of the second day.

What you driving?

that’s unacceptable. Half day job at most. Shouldn’t be holding your vehicle if they aren’t working on it, that’s the whole point of an appointment

Unless you driving a mclaren or something that needs specialization

It’s a huge problem right now. Lack of supplies and parts, labor, etc. we can’t send dodge trucks in because if they need a certain recall they try to hold the truck until the parts come in which they can’t even give me a date on.

Depends where at? Are you at Fast Eddy’s auto Repair or a dealership?

Sounds like they’re stripping it for parts.

You may want to go get your car and take it somewhere else. Maybe they wrecked your car and they are stalling as they wait for it to be repaired. As crazy as that sounds I actually know someone that this happened to

I’ve heard some dealers are quoting long times for car repairs and putting cars visible on the front lot. Makes them appear as if they have cars available for sale but in reality they don’t. Is your car on the front of the lot?

You don't go to the dealership for brakes.

You find a mechanic that specializes in your make if you can't do them yourself. I did pads and rotors on my SUV in about 1.5 hours, but it was one of the easier models to do brakes on. A German car would take longer, I know I have done plenty of VW and BMW brake jobs.
