It's really a shame that the Amazonian Rain Forest is disappearing. Replanting trees just isn't effective because of the soil and climate. I hope they can find a solution.

Its amazing how hard it can be to plant and have things grow in a rainforest.

As far as the world's timber industry, it sucks. Trees that haven't had 50 to 100 years to grow, aren't the same as 20-30 year old trees. Most all professional woodworkers will agree.

The only thing that will wipe out humans is a cataclysmic event like a giant meteor or the sun exploding. If the population gets too big disease or famine will correct it. Life always finds a way.

I'm looking forward to it, because that is when asteroid mining will actually become economically worthwhile and we'll still be okay. And because space is cool.
