I agree I lived in the area trying to turn the area around.
City does not care, council woman Donna Collins Lewis does not care, and BRPD outnumbered.

Safe from 7 am to 10 am.

Once the thugs get up forget it.

You better be packing two weapons.

One in your waist area and one around your leg Incase you have to fight a former tenant along with being willing to use that weapon.

Just curious as someone who hasn’t lived in BR for 30 years- what are the 3 “No Go” areas?

Do not go North of Florida Blvd.
North Sherwood, Choctaw, North Flanery Road, and Florida Blvd area.

Go down Florida Blvd between Sherwood Forest Blvd and Flanery Road. In the 1980’s these car dealers popped up everywhere. Now I think the majority of them were bought by Allstar which moved them to Juban Crossing.

If someone mentions Brandywine, Belaire, Jailaire, little Vietnam, etc run.

There are more bad neighborhoods than that in SBR - Blvd de Province, Bawell etc.

Lot of crime in Gardere but murder rate is pretty low.

I think they do not properly report murders or shootings in the city of BR.

I witnessed the start of a shootings where I had to duck behind my car and seen people killed over drug deals. Then it does not make the news.

I seen 3 kids shoot starting to up a duplex with Latinos in it and rob them. I dropped behind my car hoping not to get hit. One guy in Spanish told me they killed 2 people. It never made the news.

Seen a guy get mad over being stuffed over a drug deal run into a house and shoot the place up. The people in the house drove one victim to the hospital. Druggies and dealers are not going to call the cops to have them in a house where illegal weapons and drugs are. I heard he died from his wounds. I guess that did not get reported.

I think the BRPD covers up calls to not make BR seem as dangerous as it is.

I don't know how they'd cover up murders but shootings definitely don't always make the news. I've heard one from my house at night. Per Nextdoor it was 2-3 miles away at an apartment complex. Probably 20 shots fired and tons of cops responding. Not a peep on the news.

It is not fine during the daytime. My clients in that area have locked doors and large dogs in the buildings. I am speaking of multiple clients not just one business.

I’ve been in at least 10-15 different businesses along that Choctaw corridor during the daytime (Triton, Sunbelt, AAA Cooper, 84 Lumber, etc)

None of them have the level of security you’re describing.

the Choctaw corridor is where the business of BR gets done.
it’s fine during the day and is and always has been a desirable commercial and light manufacturing location

I worked near Plank and Airline for years while in college and we didn't have that level of security. Honestly, the local hoodlums generally don't bother the working folks.

These are what you consider the three “no go” zones in Baton Rouge?

And to imagine that I felt safe working at Winn Dixie on North Little John back in 1984.

The North culture is advancing southward.
