While I agree with this, you left out “without raising taxes ON THE CITY OF BR.” Don’t fear monger the whole parish.

Who is going to pay for a parish wide storm water plan? Improvements in the DA’s office?

Well whether it passes or not, the consolidated city-parish government structure has to go. Each city runs their own issues and have a Parish Council for Parish wide issues which includes the unincorporated areas.

The reasons for having it this way are no longer valid especially with the creation of St George.

This is the part that really gets me. I suppose if we decide the library has too much in savings then we could vote to reallocate that money, but to "renew the library millage" but then scrape some off for undisclosed purposes for another decade is some wildly jacked up accounting. The water is too muddy between the parish and the city.

The library tax is about to expire. Zero reason they can't design a budget outlining what they actually need to survive, and we can vote on that.

The Parish.

They want to use Parish wide taxes for non-Parish wise issues. BR City Police and Fire Pensions is one of them.

That’s why St George ultimately was created in the end. We got tired of being the ATM for the City of BR to use.

The ballot say for general fund use. That means they can do whatever they want with it once it passes. You aren’t naive to think they will could change their mind on what the money is spent on are you? How about it being spelled out EXACTLY what it is spent on? Well they don’t want you to know that or else you would vote NO.

It’s funny. Mayor Sid made a statement that said to just trust him and vote yes. Yeah, that’s not good enough for me.

No, he's not. He is such a terrible poster that he has had at least 2 previous screen names that got banned so he created his latest alter.

One of his previous banned screen names was "Sprocket46." He even admitted he used to be Sprocket46 and created the alter dragginass so he could continue to post.

You're so full of poop. Look at my profile, member since 2013. You're still just butthurt about St.George. Regardless, you can't have discussions/debate without losing your cool. Vote how you want, and I'll do the same. Your entire argument surrounding thrive, essentially, is that it's not perfect but good enough. I disagree for the reasons I've stated, and you simply cannot accept that people don't agree with you.

Irrelevant.

You started posting under dragginass. You got banned.

You created an alter. It got banned.

You created another alter. It got banned.

You sat out a while and Chicken granted you amnesty for dragginass in a reinstatement thread.

Stop lying about it.

I got banned for making an account called "LSUPUTIN" to mess with you about St.George. I admitted it because it was funny, but you cried like a baby and got me banned. It was funny, BTW.

You need some Jesus or Yoga or something. Life isn't that serious man. I knew things about SG you didn't, and it ate you alive from the time you read my posts on the matter.

Now you can't fathom someone doesn't agree with you about a tax matter. I have good reasons, and you're best argument is "good enough for you". Well it's not good enough for me, so I'm voting NO. My vote should not effect your life in the way it does, seemingly.

Wrong, Kemo Sabe.

My argument is "it's a good start" for our new Mayor-President. It's a compromise.

No sensible person believes what Coach Edwards wants to accomplish can be done in ONE step.

Key word, "sensible."

ETA: And I didn't whine about your Putin alter. I thought it was kinda cute.

But Chicken or an admin probably busted you for posting using an alter after being banned. They frown on that unless they've given the poster permission to do so.

And I disagree, for sound reasons. "Good start" is not good enough. Get over it. Go for a walk.

I won't vote another penny to EBPL nor BREC. Both let politics guide their spending.

I have not read anything that says that. If it does go up, it will likely be hardly noticeable. If THRIVE does not pass, it is my opinion the alternative will be more noticeable.

ETA: spelling

Imagine how people would feel if Parish wide money was going to pay off Zachary debt? Or Central? Or St George?

Seriously doubt people would be OK with raiding the library/mosquito control piggy banks for that.

But because it’s the City of BR, that’s somehow OK.

Every politician supports it because they get a part of the take when they break the piggy bank meant for other purposes. It’s as simple as that.

The politicians will then enjoy spending it in the *cough* general fund for whatever their whim is.

Getting nothing instead of getting something is NOT "sound reasons."

Have you stopped to think (I just answered my own question...) what an accomplishment Coach Edwards achieved just by getting the Library Board, the Council on Aging and the Bug and Rat Board to agree to support having their dedicated property taxes shaved a little bit in order to fund other needed parish services (DA and Sheriff)???

When mayors have tried to get them to agree to that in the past those boards have all gone to DefCon 1 and fight the proposal hammer and tong! And they have always won the vote to stay with the status quo.

This is a revolutionary step in the right direction!

ONCE AGAIN you conveniently leave out debts owed by the City of BR.

Why are you so disingenuous comrade?

You say others make stuff up but you DEFINITELY leave stuff out.

And you keep conveniently repeatedly ignoring that Baton Rouge is in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The "debts" are East Baton Rouge Parish debts not just the City of Baton Rouge debts.

Stop being ignorant.
