How impactful can negatives be as part of a routine workout?

Supposedly time under tension gives you bigger muscles, so go for it.
I do negatives when I do pullups and it has made me much stronger.

What do you mean by negatives?

Overload on weight, go slow downward controlling weight, get assisted when coming back up

Gotcha. I've never done that but see how that can help build strength. I workout by myself so i never go too heavy.

I haven't really worked out in years, but back when I did, negatives really helped me to push through some plateaus...

Lay down on the floor (while benching) and just allow your elbows and triceps to hit the floor and come up with the weight. Load the bar up.

Negatives are slow eccentric contractions. Eccentric motions in general require more force production than concentric. Therefore it would make since you may see better outcomes in strength by including an eccentric component to your workout. However, this strength typically only applies to eccentric motions and doesn't translate to concentric gains. This is the same as isometrics. Isometrics only work for the position you train in. On a side note, isometrics only allow better motor recruitment and do not cause muscle hypertrophy.

That's some big words. When I was lifting and working out full time, I did negatives every other set and I have never been stronger and in better shape. Take that for what it's worth.

Haha sorry. They require more work so yes they make you stronger but only in that direction. It's an important component.

Isometrics increase strength gains in +/- 10 degrees from the position held.

Workout is douche? I didn't know you were a fat miserable tub. Negatives are good, as long as they are a part of continually changing up your routine. Forcing your muscle to adapt to new and different stimulus is key. Change it up douche!

Dorian did this with every lift. Even squats.

biggest problem is having people help you in gym when you are a solo artist.
