Very hard. You have to be in excellent physical shape and be very intelligent. Most US fighter pilots are not the hotshot types you see as portrayed in media. They are highly trained individuals who must perform their job with extreme accuracy and precision on a day-to-day basis with tons of protocol to follow and are very humble and fortunate to have been chosen to be a fighter pilot. You're lucky to get to fly when you can and when you do it can be an exhilarating but exhausting experience.

So what’s your stance on the 737 MAX, pilot error or mechanical?

don't know a lot about the MAX, I do know that US carriers have ordered it with two MCAS systems and are trained on them, and they can be overridden, and most foreign carriers only order one, that's about all I know about it

I knew a medically retired fighter pilot.Something happened to him while in service causing brain damage.
Some type of unexplained viral illness put him in the hospital for months. He came out crippled and with limited communication abilities.
You would of thought he was autistic upon meeting him but he was like you and me at one time in life.

Do fighter pilots feel left out now that everybody's pretending to be a Navy SEAL? In the Top Gun heyday any imposter worth his salt wanted to be a fighter pilot.

More like "getting violently thrown into 800 knot oncoming air". Too much oxygen, actually.
Ejecting at supersonic velocities typically isn't healthy.

Those are the only pilots I have been around.
I'm not downing them. They just didn't fit the Hollywood image.
This.... even one of the few with an actual air to air kill
