I live about 80 miles from where I grew up. At one point in my life, though, for about five years, I was 9,000 miles away.

Born in Ruston, but we bought/built a camp on Lake Claiborne when in I was a kid. We still have the camp and I bought a house on the lake about 1/2 a mile from the camp. Right behind Snake Island. Been up here about 4 years now.

It brings me back to my childhood every day.

Born? About 3 miles. Where I lived until age 3? About 2 miles. Where I grew up? About 12 miles.

But I raised my kids about mile from where I grew up

I don't wander very far for very long.

I was born in Bham Alabama. Grew up a little outside of a small town named Altoona, Alabama that’s about 45 miles northeast of Bham. I’ve lived as far away as Ketchikan, Alaska. Also spent about a year in Smyrna, GA. The army took me overseas to Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. I was also stationed for a time in Texas and Kentucky. I’ve also visited 14 other counties and something like 42 of the 50 states. After all my travels I’ve settled down in a small town 35 miles from where I was born and 10 miles from where I grew up. I’ve lived here the last 18 years with my wife of 27 years where we’ve raised two children.

The one thing being away from home teaches you is there is no place like home. Though I still love to travel, I’ll always come back home.

Live in Nashville. Born and raised in Lake Charles and however far it is, isn’t far enough.
