In the 80's they called turning 40 Middle-aged crazy. Going through a divorce, buying a Corvette, and snorting cocaine were what they portrayed males that reached this point doing in the movies. I never went through it, but I never got married and had kids either. I'm still a child, and don't expect to ever grow up at 60 years old.

Do you ever regret it? And do you ever feel lonely?

If your mind is telling you to do better, then why are you not listening?
No, what my mind is telling me is that I am shitty, and that I cannot do any better. Everything is futile, everything hurts. What hurts the least is to crawl in my bed or lose myself in escapism through tv or video games. I can see that it is a toxic mindset, but it’s like a tar pit. Obviously, you have to get out, but that shite is sticky and has a way of sucking you back in, making it very hard to escape. Depression thoughts are like that one ex-gf who every once in a while seems to want to get back together with you. You know it’s a bad idea, and she only ever contacts you when your will is weakest. You can say no, but every now and then, you give in to the temptation, you remember why it was a bad idea in the first place, and you hate yourself even more. But, then, a few months later, you repeat the whole cycle over again and have no idea how or why.
Your “buckle-up, buttercup” attitude shows me you have no idea what you’re dealing with here.

I have precious little patience for such levels of mental frailty or chemical imbalance or whatever it is that you people claim to have that makes daily life such a crippling experience
Life's a bitch, and then you die.

Then why are you on this thread? Obviously, this isn't for you.

Depressed people have a habit of dying sooner rather than later.

I have very little understanding of depression. I always just view it as sadness and I know that is wrong. I think those who view as I do have struggles understanding it from the outside.
We ALL have bad days, bad experiences, bad relationships, etc. That is not depression. I don't think I suffer from it in the least and I thank God for that.
But I DO get sad.

At times, yes. Mostly no. Lonely, yes, and then no. It comes and goes. Either/or. I wish the best for you. Depression is a bitch and no way to live. If you try meds, give them 6-8 weeks to take effect and still the dose/type of med may not be for you. You & your doctor can find the right one. Living in Rancho Cuc may have something to do with it, too. I've done that gig. The traffic alone would depress anyone. Take a vacation alone and get out of your head. Don't believe all of your thoughts. Meditate deeply and try to find peace. Best of luck to you.

I guess the mirror is mounted high enough to where you don't have to look at your bitch tits?

I went to my doctor, started medication, and saw a therapist until we all agreed I was ready to stop taking them.
My dad killed himself. Mental health needs attention. Get help if you need it.

It doesn't
What perspective does do is provide a logical attitude to getting whatever help that person need. If you go to a super fricked of part of the world and still feel all depressed, then the issue is internal and needs outside help.

I challenge homeless people to cash only fights behind an elementary school. Always makes me feel better

Effexor XR has helped me tremendously. It’s an SSNRI that has the best side effect profile of any of the antidepressants.
I also talk to a therapist once/week. He’s helped change behaviors and put things in place to change from an organic standpoint.
Depression is a serious thing that us men tend to not blow off and just deal with it. It’s like any other medical condition that requires treatment as others have said.
Get help and get on medication. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

Yeah man it was strange for me too. Always heard to keep busy to deal with depression. I was having memory issues from moving faster than I could think. I don’t have money issues. I live well within my means. Had hobbies, side hustles just to keep busy and just kept at it. Seemed like I always realized the day was gone right before I fell asleep. Life seemed to be going so fast and I couldn’t remember hugging my kids. So I decided to slow down. Just enjoy looking at my kids without worrying about anything else. Just have weekends and not plan weekends. Things got better after I got used to not planning.
