How does one get a job as a “cooler”?

I don’t gamble because I am bad luck at it. Same reason I don’t bet on Auburn football. If I make the bet, it’s all over.
How do people get their jobs at casinos as a cooler? I am sure if I walked in and asked an HR person at a casino about it they would laugh and say they don’t exist.
But, we all know they do.

Honestly never heard of a cooler. What do they do?

Coolers are not necessary, since all table games exist on luck alone.

William H. Macy movie about it
Called "The Cooler" conveniently enough

It’s not what you know it’s who you know and who knows of you.

Go in, watch, find a winner, sit down and tamp. Do that a few times and they will come to you

You think casinos need people like this to ensure they make money?

Casinos will employ every advantage they can.

I have inside knowledge of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians business holdings.
They average $12 million a day at the casino property in Cherokee alone.
They’re not paying someone to ruin your $10,000 run.

What, exactly, do you think the "cooler" does differently to make you win less in a game where the house's play is entirely dictated by rigid rules and the long-term outcome is determined by mathematics?

Read the title as cooter.

Make sure to always pre-cool your YETI

Is this a real thing? I saw the movie but I don't think I've ever heard of one in real life.

Vegas 'assisted' Hollywood with script changes as to the definition of a Cooler.
A true Cooler is the best of the best card mechanics. I met a couple Coolers in a bar in NYC. One asked what my phone number was, then dealt 5 hands. Picked my hand up, and it was my phone number.
Did similar deals while I watched the shuffle from about a foot away - and he talked with his friend while he dealt. I asked him to deal a perfect Bridge hand. I picked up my hand - 13 spades.
When someone gets a crazy hot streak, they bring in a Cooler to bring the chips back where the casino thinks they belong.
