why would a pilot eject from a plane capable of going that far rather than spending that time trying to fix the problem or, I don’t know, maybe trying to land somewhere?

Maybe there was a malfunction with the control of the plane? If the altitude was high enough, a "glide" of 8 miles is not out of reason. Factor in that the pitch might have been slightly upward and that makes it even more possible. There are tons of factors that would go into this explanation.

I'm sure, eventually, an official explanation will be released, but you probably won't believe it anyway, so how about you make up a good story and entertain us?

They finally found an eye witness to corroborate the governments official story about the F-35...

Check him out

That guy isn't conjuring up stories, lol. Seems credible.

Dude don’t be a dick. The thing crashed 80 miles from where the pilot landed. 80. Not 8. And there were several airports including the damn base closer than that. Something happened here. Either a major malfunction causing complete loss of pilot control or auto-ejection, or the pilot made a really poor decision to prematurely eject and endanger lives on the ground. This wasn’t a routine oopsy.

Glad your two days of painstakingly thorough investigation have resulted in a conclusion that it doesn’t seem like a straightforward issue!!

Sorry, I made an error typing. (Do I need to explain how that sort of thing happens?)

The pilot obviously bailed out too early.

he plane is in bad enough shape to require ejection, how does it keep going 80 miles before crashing? It wasn’t supersonic over land either. Very strange

You might want to do some additional studying in the off chance you ever studied physics or engineering.

Why would a pilot eject with autopilot on over a populated area considering it could fly for that long without a pilot. Could have killer people on the ground.

if it could fly that long without a pilot, it could be flown and landed at several airports within that same distance.

Who said it was in bad enough shape to require ejection?

Why would anyone eject from a functioning plane?

Don't ask me, ask the pilot.

You know he ejected, you know it was still somewhat functioning. Don't act like what you already know couldn't happen.

I have a number of questions concerning this event. I grew up in the aviation business and my fil was a wing commander in the Navy 26+ years.
