Do you really believe the war on drugs is really taking bread winners from their families?

I'm not here to argue about the war on drugs or whether our drug laws are fairly applied, but it's hard for me to believe that men iwho are involved with drugs and who are working and providing for their families are being arrested in significant numbers.

I think it's tearing families apart - fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins. Obviously you will always have shitty drugheads and deadbeats, but sending people to jail for piddly amounts of pot isn't doing anyone any favors (well, except for private prison systems..). Some of these people may very well be successful if they didn't have a record.

For the record, I'm not saying to keep drug dealers on the streets, but random dude that wants to smoke a little pot in recreation shouldn't get sent to jail with a mandatory minimum sentence. There are plenty of successful people who use drugs recreationally. All it takes is getting popped and entire lives are ruined.

You think the mom is going to go hungry? It's going to be the kids that suffer and go without. I used to be a get rid of welfare guy but then I realized everyone wasn't like my parents who would go without so I didn't have to. These people aren't going to go without, their kids are.

Leave a trail of beard oil and gourmet coffee. The hipsters will do the rest.

Raze it and start over...on a serious note, it's too far gone. No amount of capital can save that shithole.

In La. don't first time offenders get rehab? Same with second timers, right unless you are caught dealing.

I really don't think NBR fell apart because too many bread winners were jailed for drugs.

African Americans that end the cycle of poverty leave places like north Baton Rouge.

This ^x 100

And it applies to any low-income area honestly. Those who manage to get the means leave as soon as they can.
