How old was he when he started showing signs?

Sounds like schizophrenia, and he needs to be on medication.

The toll on his parents will be lessened, but never completely gone because they'll always worry or have to make sure hes taking the meds.

Schizophrenics can lead pretty normal lives on meds, but when they go off them, it can be disastrous.

Unfortunately most MD’s just throw a bunch of pills at you which turn you into a zombie and when you realize this you quit taking them. Hence impossible to keep someone on their meds.

This is true.

But while they are on meds, you can reason with them and get them to understand their condition.

If they understand, sometimes they can cope with the delusions and know its not real. And then they can avoid taking the meds.

That's not very common though.

Its tricky dealing with a paranoid.

Just because you’re paranoid that doesn’t mean you’re not being watched. I believe I’m watched by some media people through smart TV’s. If you can see them they can see you too.

He’s having severe adverse effects from taking adderall. I’d be willing to bet that he’s taking more than his prescribed dose. You need to call his prescribing physician and make him aware of your findings before your friend hurts himself.

If hes on high doses of adderall or abusing it these sound like the symptoms. I had the same issue with adderall.. I was working alot of crazy hours and taking adderall to cope with the tiredness. Sometimes, I would take over 100mg a day. His best bet is to taper off the adderall and be done with it completely.

I grew up with a friend like that. He was book smart, with good parents, good church upbringing, and 2 degrees, but he rejected all authority /rebelled and developed raging addictions that got him on the crazy train. Shot his dad and had an all day standoff with police. He’s locked up for life now. Get your friend some “good counseling”. Not just a pill pushing yo-yo with a certificate.

After your friend shot his dad he should have liquidated himself immediately after that. Now he’s in jail rotting away for life. If you snap and take a human life you better kill your self too. In for a penny in for a pound. You can’t get extra credit for not committing suicide. Your already screwed anyway in the media.

In the words of Harold Finch: It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you

He's talking to his cable modem asking them to stop following him, because he believes that they are listening to him through the modem.

He admits it's not people listening but computers are recording every conversation through nearly all electronic devices. And they track all your conversations and steal your ideas. This is because he's pretty much invented hundreds of things that have come out, but they stole his idea through listening in before he had a chance to become a millionaire off the invention himself. That's why he hasn't worked, he has to be secretive about all his ideas for inventions, but he's also afraid that when he becomes a billionaire, people will come to kill him and his family for the money.

Of course all ideas are now written on cryptic scraps of paper that only are used to jog his memory, because nothing is safe.

That’s definitely schizophrenia. Multiple personalities is dissociative identity disorder. Doesn’t sound anything like this guy. Google it.

Introduce him to the Poli Board. He'll find some like-minded baws.

Really sad because it eventually becomes self fulfilling. You tell enough people the shite he is spouting and they ARE looking at you.

You can do an anonymous APS report. I've done these with my job a few times. Someone will check on him. Whether he meets commitment criteria?? You will know you tried.

You CAN NOT reason with a delusional person. You will only become another person out to get him.

Mental illness sucks.

Professionals, medication, and swallowing the realization that he has nowhere to go once his parents go.

Be there to support them. As you've noticed mental disease is an infection.

I know who you are talking about and that can’t be him. Michael has been out of his mind for years. Nothing new with him.

Prescribed him adderall

That can make sypmtoms of schizophrenia better or worse. It can also cause a psychosis that is similar to schizophrenia in some people. He really needs to be in a psychiatric hospital.
