I always draw inspiration from Jim Florentine's Terrorizing Telemarketers. He also did the voice of Special Ed on Crank Yankers. Funny shyte:

I haven't had a telemarketing call on my home phone in three years. My VoIP provider has a spam blocker that totally eliminates robocalls. It works like this: if you're in my phone book, your call goes right through and my phone rings. If you're not in my phone book, you're asked to press a number (1-9) to be connected. Robodialers can't do that so they get an error message that says the number you have dialed is no longer in service. The number changes with each incoming call. I occasionally get calls on my cell phone but I just add those to my blacklist.

I always tell them I'm interested and then I ask for their full name and home phone number so I can call them back later. I have yet to have someone give it to me.

When my phone rings, if I don't notice the number I don't answer. If its important they will leave a VM.. If I do answer by some chance and it is a telemarketer, I just hang up on them.

Iask them their company's stance on any controversial issue. Regardless of the answer I get, I tell them I could never do business with a company that believes_______.

If they say the co. has no stance, I tell them that the issue is too important to ignore.

Then I hang up.

I used to just hang up on them immediately. I've gotten soft and usually listen to their spiel these days. I always try to remember they are just doing their job and at least they are out there working and trying to earn a living instead of leeching off of the taxpayers

I like to tell them whoever they called for just died, and thanks for opening up a painful subject.

It makes me nervous about how they got my phone number.

A phone number is 10 digits.

Write down 10 digits and call it. If someone answers, try to sell them something.

No. They buy info as a third party service. They get a name, phone number, and an address. This is why I'm reluctant to give that information out unless it's necessary.
