How do you feel about VW owners shafting VW on buyback?

Apparently some VW owners are stripping parts off their cars to sell on the side to make a profit - prior to bringing the vehicles to the dealer for the buyback (as a result of that fraud from VW).
The judge that wrote the order mandating VW do the buyback is considering amending his order to prevent this. His original order just said the vehicles had to be brought in, 'still operable'.
Is this just smart acting from consumers, taking advantage of how the order is written (and let's face it, corporations do this all the time, so does the govt), or is it violating the order?
Don't strip down your VW prior to buyback, warning from judge

Don't feel sorry for VW...
That said, Karma is a bitch. And shitheads get what they deserve.

They are buying ours back tomorrow. I've kept this vehicle about 12 months longer than I wanted thanks to them.
I'm too lazy to do anything more than keep the floor mats.

My truck started giving me shite today, so both it and the VW are gone ASAP. How much headache is the buyback process? I haven't even initiated it yet as I intended to keep mine several more months

This whole story is interesting to me. I was just about to pull the trigger on a VW when all of this broke. I'm curious to see how it shakes out in the end.

A little cumbersome and overly specific, but I understand why. Online upload process is very helpful. Phone agents are not.

Was the written offer from VW on par with what the estimate sheet says? I'm shopping for a new truck now, so that's why I'm asking. I don't need numbers or anything.

It was pretty close. I still think they short changed us around $1k but I was tired of dealing with them and accepted the price.

My Dad (73 years old) said no way in hell is he selling it back. He still drives about 300 miles a week and is killing it in fuel mileage.

VW actually designed a cheat into their cars.
So frick them.

We bought ours because we needed a comfortable, nice vehicle that we could put 750-900 miles on it a week. I'd keep it if we still needed to put that many miles on it each week.
