Whether stuck in a rut or full blown alcoholic...how did you flip the switch? Covid and working from home has escalated my habit. Everyday I say I’m going to quit and those days it seems like I drink more.

I exercise a lot and am very active but I feel I am to the point of sneak drinking out of boredom esp when the wife and kids have settled down and I know I don’t have to get up in the morning. Give me some advice OT.

I’m tired of waking up with a hangover just to wake up again with another.

Seek help. Not being a dick. It’s easier to do it with a support system.

Also tell your wife if you haven’t already. That’s the best support you’ll get.

I mainly drink to get sexy time with the wife. Not something I have a problem not doing.

I never started because I’m not weak and don’t need to get shite faced to have friends.

I drank. A lot. 16-18 beers/day, 7 days a week 365. From about 2009-2017.

I quit smoking cold turkey on July 5, 2017 (I smoked 1.5-2 packs a day). I quit drinking cold turkey Aug 1st, 2017.

I’m four years sober. My story is complex, but I will tell you that willpower is one helluva thing to experience and put to use.

I might have a drink someday again, but it won’t be tomorrow, or next month or anytime soon.

You can do it, but you have to WANT to do it.

It’s almost like playing with cheat codes if you just never start, like me.

Swallowed my pride and went to an AA meeting. I got tired of the endless cycle of saying I was going to quit and only lasting about a week without booze. FWIW I was a binge drinker since college - I didn't know how to have a couple of beers and stop, I drank to get completely smashed every time. If I went to dinner with friends and had a couple, I'd stop somewhere along the way home to finish the job. I embarassed myself and my family multiple times with my drinking.

I'm 810 days sober now, I seriously don't know how much longer I'd have lived if I didn't stop. Going to AA and meeting my sponsor has legitimately saved my life.

Mine too, I get off at 2:30 pm most days, I go walk two miles, work out and make dinner.

But then I get bored and want a drink.

I love beer too so it's fattening as frick, I've put on the Covid 19
