He made a career out of insulting people.
I don't think anyone got mad at him.

People used to be able to take a joke without getting their panties in a bunch.

People today are more uptight and trashy than people then.

Oscars were too white for that nonsense back then.

Rickels' era was pre-ghetto-takeover.

Not everyone was a part of some victims group back then. Whatever happened to strong men like Gary Cooper?

He would insult Frank Sinatra and Frank would just laugh.
Not someone I would want to piss off.

I don't recall him ever making fun of someone suffering from a disease. That's widely seen as not being funny.

He made fun of people over their looks, religion, ethnicity.

People didn't act like triggered pussies over words like this until for some reason the South Park generation suddenly decided that everything is offensive.

because that was his whole act, it was expected, it was almost an honor to be his target.

He made fun of race, color, and creed all the time.

Rickles was insulting guys who had lived through the Depression and WW2. They weren't pussies.

Maybe in an era where actors did not take themselves so seriously….

Don Rickles was the only man who could poke fun at Sinatra and not have his legs broken after the show.
Don Rickles was a national treasure.

The South Park generation? I had the first three episodes on VHS and am in my 30’s. Not sure the triggeredTwitter crowd are what I would call the South Park generation
