How come there aren't any national tattoo chains?

Just about everyone knows businesses have local mom and pop stores and large national corporations, but not tattoo shops.
Supercuts, Massage Envy, Walmart, and Starbucks just to name a few of the large business operations that compete vs mom and pop stores.

tattoo artistry is more about who is doing the actual work rather than the company providing the chairs and tools.
People who go to chain barbers like supercuts don't really care about hair.
My barber is like 85, still charges less than $15 and knows what i want everytime.

Why don't we have a national drug dealer chain?
It's always so hard to find them.

Because tattoos are for trashy people and trashy people aren't smart enough to have an empire of nationwide tattoo parlors

Massages are for trashy people and there's a massage envy for that

A lot of dispensaries in Colorado are becoming chains, because the laws make it harder for smaller operations.
Livwell, strainwise, lightshade, tru, etc....

The Tattoo removal business is growing at fast rate, that would be more suitable for a chain
if they are real good - they will build their tattoo application chain along side this concept.

Because the liability is too great. Whey MF'we and their mom will claim they were infected with dirty needles.
Think about it. Sharp object piercing skin on multiple people. You have zero defense in court.

I think he's on to something here. If a tattoo company built a reputation of only hiring the best artists, it would make sense to have a chain. Perhaps they could specialize in a specific style as well. Not too far fetched. Here in Austin, there are 3 "Atomic Tattoo" shops all owned by the same company.
