Biden administration asks Pentagon to send military to border

DEL RIO, Texas — The Biden administration has requested the Pentagon send the military to the southern border to help regain control after thousands of Haitian migrants swarmed over the Rio Grande into Texas.

The admission was the first time Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has confirmed DHS is seeking the Pentagon's help. It comes amid a crisis in south-central Texas, where at least 15,000 migrants illegally crossed by the Del Rio-Acuna International Bridge late last week.

"The approach has been an all-of-federal-government effort and, frankly, an all-of-federal-government effort in partnership with state and local authorities in the civil society. And the Department of Defense is evaluating a request for assistance, and we hope that will come to fruition very shortly," Mayorkas said during a press conference Monday afternoon after touring the area.

A Pentagon spokesman said on Monday the DHS had requested help specifically with transporting migrants from the border to its holding facilities. A Defense Department spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment.

Why are they all just staying there if they are already on our soil?

This shite is ridiculous. Maybe I'm a POS, but I don't give a shite how bad things are in Haiti.. go somewhere else. There's plenty of countries to go and find safe haven in. Those of us who were fortunate enough to be born in the USA or those who went through the process LEGALLY shouldn't have to deal with this shite.

I don't even live in Texas or near Del Rio and this infuriates me because it could've all been avoided. This is what happens when you signal to people that the door is wide open.

They're not going to send them back.

They're going to distribute them across the country, particularly red states.

What's really scary is that yesterday social media accused border patrol of using whips on people. It was reigns from the horse and ropes but that didn't stop it from spreading like crazy and even USA Today, NBC, etc spread it.

I spoke with a biz friend who retired to the desert near there. The shelves are bare in all the stores in Del Rio. If you want groceries you have to drive far away to find them. Thank you Catholic Charities and other NGO's for help the poor in Del Rio to starve.

All the ICE checkpoints away from the border are without anyone there, ICE has all of its agents working this bullcrap.

The majority are Haitian and allegedly poor so it begs the question of how did they get here without a boat, air travel, or money. They would have to swim from Haitai, cross Cuba, swim to Mexico, then walk to Del Rio.
