And anyone that says neither - I hope they don't live in BR or NOLA.
at this point, id give ATL a couple year chance to steal my heart. I wouldn't move to HOU from NOLA with similar circumstances.

I've been to ATL over 30 times probably and it had never 'whOoOd' me... but I'd give it a chance. Among other of the top urban areas in the SE.

Ideally I'd much rather be able to afford to live center city in one of the metros on the East Coast. NYC, DC, BOS, even Baltimore or Philly

I'd say Houston and its metro area is the better choice between the two cities. But Atlanta has more within day-driving distance that I'd personally be interested in (hiking, kayaking, Nashville, Savannah and other nice areas close, etc.).

Atlanta. The climate alone is a big enough difference maker. You can get to the Atlantic or the gulf within a reasonable drive and you're 1 1/2 hours away from the mountains. Traffic, food, airport/ease of travel are pretty much a wash. I would live Inman Park, Virginia Highlands, or Midtown over Buckhead though.

Don't know what the best neighborhoods in Atlanta are, but this. Atlanta sounds much more appealing than Houston.

If you have to be in Houston, better off living in Clear Lake area. Just my opinion though. And yes, it's city living, but I can be in the saltwater and fishing in 30 minutes.

Buckhead is nice for homes, but dont limit yourself to this neighborhood.

Where is the office? Buckhead, I assume

If he is considering Buckhead or River Oaks, he would probably be the richest guy in the neighborhood.

ATL is closer to other cooler places to weekend at.

This. ATL is much closer to nicer beaches and tons of mountain related stuff is a short drive away. If you're not into that kind of thing they are both kind of bland generic cities.

Well, considering the $$$ you'd be making in Buckhead and River Oaks... easily Atlanta.

Better airport.
Much better weather
Better topography
Significantly closer to the beach and mountains
