I havent spent much time in Atlanta but spent several yrs living in Houston.. Houston was good to me economically, though in the last yr or two the Oil & Gas industry has taken a dive, which eventually trickles down to almost every industry there-- so Atlanta may have the edge economically.. Also, i was never a fan of Texas politics and their 'we are the center of the universe' mentality.. and most of Houston is so generic that it could literally be Cleveland or Kansas City and you wouldn't even know it... On the plus side, Houston is a very easy drive to BR; you can drive home for every LSU home game in about 4 hrs, which is exactly what i did for a long time.. Also, i happened to live in River Oaks, which is much nicer than most of Houston and its suburbs.. If i were looking to leave Louisiana again, i would probably pick Atlanta, due to a more diverse economy beyond the O&G industry, as well as what would prob be the biggest factor for me , the weather and (relative) lack of humidity.

Depends to some extent if you want to stay in the South, Atlanta is no longer the South.
But it is closer to mountains

Can't speak for Houston, but in-town Atlanta has transformed over the past 5-10 years and continues to look promising. Some really cool little pockets around the city. It's becoming more walkable/bikable. Piedmont Park, Grant Park, and the planned park around the stranger things reservoir - all connected by the beltline - will be really cool once completed. South downtown and the gulch area next to the arenas are next to be redeveloped. Beautiful neighborhoods with tons of foliage and classic bungalow architecture. It's a fun time to be living in town.
Buckhead has some nice neighborhoods and mansions if you're super rich, but I don't get the draw. Traffic is terrible in the area. No walkability. No character. Ugly strip malls interspersed between high-rises.
Suburbs are suburbs. You can live in nice ones outside any major city.
Access to mountains, rivers, and beaches is a huge plus too.

ATL > Houston > NOLA
Keep in mind you got a bunch of butt hurt Saints fans throwing Atlanta under the bus.

Huh? That statement doesnt even make any sense... First of all, how can Saints fans be 'butt hurt' (apparently my post is in response to a 13 yr old girl) when we know what it's like to live and die with a team for decades and be rewarded with a Super Bowl win, while (most) Atlantans cant be bothered to show up until their team makes a decent run, then repeatedly has their hopes and dreams crushed?? Secondly, i as a Saints fan am capable of separating the pros and cons of a city from that of its football team, and I'm sure I'm not the only one... I mean, let's get real-- i think that that Atlanta as a city has a few things going for it-- even if the Falcons are one of only a handful of NFL franchises to never, ever experience what it's like to win the Big Game.

There are always Saints fans in these types of threads dogging Atlanta for no reason other than they hate the Falcons. How does that statement not make sense?
You wasted a whole bunch of time on this little rant. Mostly because no one in this thread gives a frick.

I'm a Saints fan former season ticket holder (gave them up this year) I've moved to Atlanta still love my Saints but it is what is Louisiana Suck wanted better quality of life and this place is AWESOME something for everybody very diverse socially, economically. Houston isn't close in my opinion unless you want to live the typical suburban lifestyle Atlanta gives you all types of options.

You know Houston has the largest and one of the best, if not the best, medical centers in the world, right?

Not sure why Saints fans would be butt hurt over Atlanta. One has won a Super Bowl (recently I might add) and the other, you know, hasn't.

Yep, 22 hospitals within 3 sq miles i believe.. . that's the industry i made my living in.. but even in my industry, completely unrelated to O&G, there was a drag due to the ripple effect of O&G ppl losing their jobs.. after i sold me home in River Oaks and moved into a condo a couple yrs ago, most of my neighbors were employed by oil companies.. one by one, over the course of about a yr, almost all of them became unemployed or underemployed.. The Houston economy is definitely more diverse than it was during the oil bust in the 80s, but O & G is still the largest industry there.

Economy - edge Houston, but Atlanta is pretty strong
Natural Aesthetics - Huge Atlanta, much more attractive place
Weather - Solidly Atlanta
Sports - Hard to say without bias, but clearly the Falcons are more competitive, CFB is probably a little better in Atlanta and the Atlanta soccer team has more enthusiasm at the moment than any team in either city. Two new Atlanta stadiums help.
Upscale areas - River Oaks is probably a little better than Buckhead, so Houston
Suburbs - Houston
Government - Both are terrible. No income tax in Texas, so Houston
Crime - Draw
Things to do outside of the city - Huge Atlanta
Would agree with all of this, except you left off food. Houston fasho on that.
Eta: oh missed the soccer comment. fricking lol at that.
